Engine jerks when shifting to R, mechanical or electronic issue?
Can someone tell me if this is normal please...
My mechanic replaced some gasket on the transmission (i believe it was called main seal) and now when I shift from N to R whole car jerks. It didn't do this before the repair.
The mechanic was also puzzled so he called another guy who looked and said it was a electronic/timing thing and if I take it to ACE (or something I forgot) they will fix it. Good thing my mechanic gave me warranty and we are due to take it to ace in a day or two.
Is this true, is it electronic/timing?; it sure felt mechanical to me.

My initial thought based on what you described is a broken front or rear engine mount. What year and model of Accord is this? I'm assuming they removed the transmission from the car for repairs; was the repair work done to the trans itself, or was it removed for rear main crankshaft seal replacement on the engine?
I'm with Targa250R, not knowing what car this is and whatnot, I'd guess its an engine mount. My '92 EX (CB7) was notoriously jerky going in and out of reverse...just the way the transmission shifted. If this is new or at least more pronounced than it was before, I'd guess engine mount before I ripped apart the engine or tranny.
Just my $0.02,

Was gonna say the same, engine mount. maybe the mechanic didnt bolt it back down. (If you want something done right, do it yourself) unless of course u cant do it. I do allll my own work, except alignents. But prob motor mount
It can't be the engine mount because when we opened the hood and watched it shift, the engine mount was not pushed on, and it was totally smooth before the mechanic did the gasket seal repair.
If the symptom wasn't there before the repair, the mechanic most likely caused the problem.
Now you have to decide if you trust having the same mechanic investigate the problem. This is a tough call and one only you can make.
