SI check engine light
so a friend bought a 2000 SI today. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/clean...item27b2d2d98a
The check engine light stays on and the old owner told him it was a power issue. I was just wanting to know if this is a common thing for the SI to do or is there something else going on with this car that hes not telling the guy. Thanks for any input on this matter.

You need to be more specific please, what did he mean by "power issue"....Did he mean bad wiring causing the code to come up or something like that?
The easiest way would be to get the code and figure out which compenent is cause it to be thrown.

ok thanks. Sorry I cant be more specific all I knew is what I was told and we are in Iraq he bought it over the internet from ebay. Well its getting dropped off at his house today so it doesn't matter its his issue now. When we get home next week we can get it on the tester and get a code. Thanks will update next week.
Short the service connector located above the right passenger kick panel, it is blue. Turn ignition key one click. Then read the morse code. the number of long blinks is the first digit, number of short blinks is the second digit. If your number is 67, it's the P0420 code which means your cat is bad. This is common on the SI.
If you read another number, you can post it on here and I can look it up in the helms.
