Default K20A3 Kpro

I'm throwing a K20Z1 in my ep3 pretty soon, just need kpro an tranny.
now do i need a type S ecu since it's 6 speed?
I've heard of people that throw it in 6th an its actually reverse.
i don't want that to happen to me.

you could Kpro your ep3 ecu and install a reverse lockout switch. It wires to solenoid on your z1 tranny and you can use toggle switch from Radio shack (that's what I have), or I've seen people with switch that looks like your stock cruise control switch (just pick one up from stealership). Or even install a s2k engine start style switch next to your shift ****.

Or make it easy, just get type-s ecu.

its even easier then that. kpro has AUX/nitrous controls that can be programed to activate at many user defined specs. soooo, just go to the control, select it to activate at anything over lets say 10mph. then run ONE wire to the ground source of the solenoid and bam. kpro will now lock you out of reverse at anything over 10mph.

all this talk about you cant or shouldnt use a 5spd ecu with a 6spd tranny is just people being lazy.

its seriously one damn wire. heck, if you wanted to, you can check continuity back to the ecu and run the wire from multiple wires that are already in the engine bay. IE, evap vent, evap bypass, ac clutch, or fan control. i obviously wouldnt use the ac or fan control, but evap is just BS emissions crap.

^That's awesome ef9civicgen4!!! Only had I known this...

But if you don't have Kpro, with just tranny swap from 5sp to 6sp, you won't have this option of playing with Kpro, correct? You'd do w/o switch, or install one if you're paranoid like myself...

seems easier with a type S ecu.
I don't really like messing with wires.
I got a number from someone that works with Hondata an they said to call for any questions.

If you can find type-s ecu, just Kpro it and it should be good to go. GL!

I was told that Kpro-ing would take care of it, I ended up keeping my ep3 ecu because I was pressing for time during my swap and also didn't want to deal with finding one.

You may need to get speedo converter or something..., I had to get one from Hybrid racing converter box for my z3 swap.

not 100% sure on this, but is the ep3 chassis even wired for a reverse lock out? or do you still have to wire it in?

no, ep3 chassis is not wired for lock out, so you'd need to wire it to the solenoid on swapped tranny.

for converting newer (05 and newer) trannies on K-motor speed signal to work properly. More info on here: http://www.hybrid-racing.com/store/h...veter-box.html, not really related to OP's question, but I thought you already knew about it since you're doing z1 swap...

Na i don't know much about this swap.
but $200 for 4 inches of wire?
no thanks.
I read that the a2 trans has the same speed sensor as the a3 so im just gonna get that.
everything with using the ep ecu sounds too shady. Id rather get type s ecu.
