d16y8 in limp mode please help!!!!!

Default d16y8 in limp mode please help!!!!!

i got a 97 civic lx sedan with a d16y8 swap got the car running for about 30 minutes then CEL came on p1259 for vtec malfunction, changed the vtec solenoid and oil pressure switch, reset the battery, pulled the ecu, car is still in limp mode. i opened the ecu nothing is burnt or lose, drove 2 obd cycles, the car is throwing CEL p0450 and p0453 both are evap codes, car still in limp mode i am stumped any help would be greatly appreciated

1997 civic lx sedan
1997 d16y8
ex engine harness
new vtec solenoid
new vtec oil pressure switch
new plugs
new wires
new cap
new rotor button
new coil
fresh oil change
manual p2p ecu

Why do you think the engine is in limp mode? Have you checked the mechanical timing?

it wont rev past 4500 its in limp mode, timing is good, ran fine with auto y8 manifold and p2e, i put in manual manifold and converted to 2 wire iacv, p2p ecu, now in limp mode

You'd need a CEL code or bad ECU to go into limp mode. Therefore, fix P0453 and go from there.

Evaporated code shouldn't put it in limp mode

Then swap in a known good ECU.

The ECU is not in limp mode. Double check the mechanical and ignition timings.
