No brake pedal pressure when engine on.
Hey guys. I bought another civic as a beater/dd and the brakes were shot when I got it. It felt like the pads and shoes just needed changing but when I took it apart the rear brake shoes were worn to the metal and the front brake pads were hardly used. also both front rotors look like they have only been in contact with the rear brake pads (the ones on the pistons).
I installed new brake shoes with new springs and drums in the back, and new pads and rotors in the front. I checked the easily visible brake lines and didn't notice any leaks. The brake fluid level remained normal.
I can get pressure by pumping the brake when the car is off, but with the car on, the brake pedal goes nearly to the floor before I get any brake.
What should I be looking at as the culprit? this may be a really easy question, but i'm not that familiar with brakes
