ok so they just broke into my car i hate thiefs this is not my first but 3rd time with different cars and its like im a magnet to these lowlifes. I got my top slashed seats stolen and shiftknob as well, i need to know will my car get totaled out or will they give me a check i own my car paid for it cash last year and its a 2002 with 60k miles. I need to know from people who were in this situation since i never filed a claim for theft because all of my previous cars had liability

 

well if you have state farm they will automatically say you did it and not give you ****. it happend to me and they said that i stole my own car and took everything. they shouldnt total it. they didnt mine. i just had to pay for everything in my car to be replaced. good luck man. right there with ya. lets hope they get shot by a very large caliber weapon.

 

but i never claimed anything ever in my whole life plus i own my car wy would i devalue it thats just nonsense. I will have to see tomorrow what happens but anybody else can chime in

 

This sucks, its not like someone has an s2000 that needs front seats, there just gonna put them in some bucket as civic. And look ridiculous IMO. Would it have been cheaper to fix a window instead of a convertible top?

 

Convertible tops don't make noise. I have had my share with this. I only have liability so i'm always a$$ed out.

 

im getting a check idk for how much the appraiser going to the shop its at which is the shop that does work for me, and they will estimate damages so i can get it fixed. Im buying a hardtop and used seats for the meantime with the money they give me hopefully its enough

 

SMH I hate thieves!!! best of luck to you man...viper systems work but a shotgun on ready is always preferred...I want to catch them in action, I wanna wait til they are done, right when they are laughin and high five'n and saying how much of a rush that was and how they are gonna sell my seats for....BOOOOOOMMMM! slug to the driver window....alittle excessive I know, but hey it gets the job done...an example like that is what's needed but seriouslythis mess is getting out of hand

 

My S2k was only about 2 months old when it was broken into. They slashed the top, stole the radio and busted the center console to get into the trunk. Thankfully they didn't steal my seats but I took the insurance $ and put it toward a hard top. BEST thing I could've done. I haven't had another situation in almost 5 years. It sux that you have to get cheaper seats but I think the peace of mind would be worth it for you.

Sadly, thieves see a soft top and it just easy pickings...

 

that sux mayb get a hardtop or pager alarm...or cameras round ur house

 

happened to my AP1, happened to this current one after 3 days being parked on the street. but before the thief could remove the seats, the cops rolled up (i called in). request the cash option instead of the repairs since you own the car completely. seats + top come to a total of 7-10k depending on your appraiser.

Also, they can't say you did it and refuse to pay. Unless if you actually did an insurance scam that is. Otherwise what grounds do they have to deny you your claim? you pay for comprehensive in the event that something happens to your car, if it does happen they can't say "nevermind, we can't pay you because we think you're committing insurance fraud, but we have no proof."
