Default Engine Noise questions.

Hello all,

I have had my s2000 Ap2 for about 6 months now, i noticed quite a bit of engine noise but was told its only normal. Is there any type of additive or type of oil I can run to quite the motor down a bit....? The noise almost sounds like the valves need adjusting, but I am only at 31k.....Shoot me some support.

what does it sound like? and are you judging this from the engine bay or from the drivers seat while driving? give some details!

and yeah, valves can get out of wack so if you havent had an adjustment already, you should. there was a timespan when my motor was having problems and adjusted my valves about 5 times in 6 months. haha

Well the noise is heard from the drivers seat. Sounds like a tick that gets louder as the motor revs increase, nothing serious that effects performance or driving. Just an annoyance. any ideas? I am going for a 30k check up soon that's required by manual but should I have them check the valveS?

I agree with timing chain tensioner. Theres a "how to" fix on S2ki that will fix the issue. If you replace the TCT, its likely to go out just as quick.

here is a link to a video that you guys say is the Timing Chain Tensioner.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7YWObOi5zQ

This is much much much louder than mine, if this was rated as a 10 for being the loudest mine would prob be a 3 or 4.........
