you didn't say what your plans are......single cam can hold their own being boosted on stock internals

but if you have high horsepower/boost hopes then you gotta at least do the bottom end. as far as machine work you will have to get the main cap girdle milled to run h-beam rods and for the arp rod bolts to clear.......you also have to die grind the bottoms of the cylinder walls for the rods to clear

when it comes to honing, if you plan on using stock bore pistons i wouldn't hone much at all and use a ball hone cause chances are you z6 probably has it's fair share of miles and you won't want to make the piston to wall clearances too sloppy as it will cause lots of blowby and less power making ability

that's it as far as machine work, but you will also want to check and file each compression ring, i forget what i filed mine at cause it's been quite some time since i've built it but i think it was .018 thousanths on the top ring and .020 on the second ring again i'm not positive but do a search and you will easily find it

if you plan on running a block guard i highly suggest using a golden eagle blockguard as they are best in design and allow for the most coolant flow.....also install the blockguard before honing to ensure you do not make the cylinders out of round

well d16's with built bottom ends are capable of at least 350whp with people pushing the 400 mark on stock heads

you'll be very happy with 300whp though it can be scary to street drive at times especially in the rain
