with that budget you can achieve your 500whp goal .. that h23a1 motor is FRM sleeved unlike your b-series motors which are Iron sleeved. FRM is stronger than Iron, but the downfall comes in the form of not being able to run forged pistons in them. If you MUST buy the h23a1 for whatever reason, then I suggest you send it out to a company that will be able to re-sleeve that block with Iron .. Research about the h23a1 motor, information is all over the internet ..
ya the only reason i am considering this H23A1 over the JDM H22 is because i need some body parts for my 92 honda prelude, and there is this guy that is selling his 92 prelude with the H23A1 for $750. so if i could get the same deal or at least under $1000 then i would go for the H22. but im having a hard time finding a LEGIT JDM H22A

ok well i did research it and thats what i got 130BHP for the F22A1. what am i missing?......other then that i have no knowledge on the H23 Transmission so what is it that makes it better for the F22?.....and also i was told from a friend that turbo-ing a SOHC was a bad idea....IS IT?....on another note i also wanted to know if anyone knew what the difference between the H22A and the H22A1?
Building the bottom end on a h23 is the same price as a h22 except you get a little more displacement. I have a built h23 and it can take the same power as an h22 the difference is power band in which it operates. You can run h22 rods and custom pistons so you can rev higher.

Due to the bore material and diameter of the h23 u need to becarful of temp. I got 350 bhp without sleeving the motor. But when it gets hot the block will crack between #2 and #3 under the exhaust. Cooling is very important.
