90 civic LX. Engine temp climbs and engine starts to surge at idle. Car does this at a stop light and with the air conditioner turned on. If the air conditioner is off it runs fine.

Should the radiator fan switch on automatically when the air conditioner kicks in on this car? I wonder if my fan is toast.
