Icon6 vtec not working

so i have a 94 accord coupe 5 speed with the f22b1 sohc vtec. ever since i bought it, vtec would only work once in a blue moon. rest of the time it only revs to 5000 rpm sometimes 5500 oddly. there is no cel or any codes coming up. the temp. wont get up to the halfway mark either. just bought a brand new thermostat from honda and still no difference. just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or has input. thank you in advance. ps ran it last weekend and still got 16.02 without vtec

vtec= speed, oil, temp, rpm. those 4 things have to be right for it to work properly.

youre running the car at a track without the temp being correct? without vtec working so obviously something is wrong.

vtec isnt working because the car isnt running at optimal temp. go get another thermostat, that is what controls the vehicles temp.

Yes, check your oil. Usually, when vtec is working, the 94 coupes (specially the 5sp ones) will do 11 seconds (or high 10's).... hahaha, jk!

Weird that your engine is only revving to 5k or 5.5 rpms, and the temperature also seems somewhat odd to me. Never seen the needle go above 1/3 of the way up, unless it was getting hot without water.

Make sure you don't have a dented oil pan or VTEC won't engage.
