Default DSS 5.9 / spool issue?

We have a pair of 5.9s and an unknown spool in the car. The 5.9 when fully in is very loose. Can move it up and down. If we put the stock axle in, it is fine...no movement. Anyone seen this before? Thanks Brian

Had the same problem with a richmond spool last season. Thought it was the spool, so I tried the same axle with a quaife and same difference. Talked to DSS about, because we were concerned about the play in it. They told us it was okay and it was the spool and lsd. We ran it for the season and got about 35 passes on it without it popping out. Issue we had was that tranny fluid would leak a little bit out of the seal on that side. Sent the axles back in the offseason to get checked and refreshed. Lee didn't tell me anything about it being bad, but I think they changed that end out and we have no leaks and the play is a lot less.

We had this problem too, turned out to be a poorly manufactured diff, and spool if used with a DSS spool they fit like a glove. We just stiffened up clip that holds the axles in the diff and we were good to go all season.
