Hatch latch isnt working on the R
Has anyone ran into this problem? When I move the latch over to open, I don't hear the motor release the lock to open. But when I use the key it will open, but I have to turn the key all the way to the right. Im not familiar with the locking mechanism on the hatch, is there a switch or motor to replace for my situation? Thanks in advance!
mine just went out too....all you hear is the motor being used right.........mine is the actuator....it's the motor behind the plastic that opens the lock clasp when the latch is used....it's like 70 bucks from the dealer...
Yeah Baysic R, I did more research and just like you said, its probably the actuator. I've ordered one and its about 70 bux shipped. I heart acuraoemparts.com. hehe! My R is slowly falling apart after 12 years, 175,000 miles. hehe! I just recently replaced the starter, now the trunk actuator...what next?

i had this problem on my 01 gsr..
i experienced this latch problem 2X in about 1 week and this is what i do.
i unlock it, take the key out, and use 1 finger to slide the latch all the way to the right, open the hatch, and quickly move my finger so the latch "springs/snaps' back on its own.
ive opened my hatch 2x a day for the past year and no issues.
good luck

When I open my and then close it it doesnt shut or catch on the latch as if there is no lock. I have to move the switch again and it makes a sound then it will shut properly. I alwas have to move the switch before I can get it to close tight.
Hey, I am having a similar problem w. my lock.. I have to turn and hold the key to the right, then pull on the release to open. It used to open after unlocking the car (be it from the trunk or unlocking the doors)... could it be a fuse? or the actuator?
hehe! Thats true. I did have the tranny rebuilt, well replaced 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear and the synchros of each of those gears, but that was back in 1999.

the key just dosen't unlock the latch.....try turning the key to unlock the clasp and lift the hatch up with the release and see what happens...
Y'all think that replacing the actuator would solve the problem?
If you hear the motor run you jus need to change a little plastic part at the inside of the actuator and you will be find.mine was doing the same I went to the junkyard remove the plastic part from a donor car and install it in my actuator and done, like new again. I have two actuator but really i don't know if they works or not and I'm to lazy to take a part my R to try them in my car. I think that i will check them and put it in the sale section. LOL!!!!
