sup everyone, ok well here's the deal. I have a 91 DX hatch and it died on an off ramp the other day. I"m trying to figure out why its not starting and i only have a few ideas.

The car seems to be turning, but instead it gives off this electicol, slightly grinding, type of sound and doesn't completely turn over all the way. The car hasn't started once since the incodent. The battery seems to be good because i'm getting power. I might not have changed the wires or spark plugs in a while because i havne't cared as much since my previous hatch was stolen and i have no money to fix this one. The car has full oil and it doesn't seem like its the starter. I do have an alarm that i know nothing about, but i doubt that has anything to do with the starting problem, but possibly?.. what are some reasons that the car isn't starting, and do you guys think it could easily be the distributor????????....

I have to try my best to get it running very very soon because i start a new job next week, and if i dont get it started i'm screwed

You need to be specific about the problem.

It could be just timing, timing belt, fuel pump, starter, the alarm, no spark somewhere.....we need more information to help. Any codes?

 

hmm..open up the distributor cap and check to see if the screw is in the rotor!! happened t me a few days ago..if thats good then..

open up the bleeder valve on the fuel filter...gas should come out..wipe it up and then try to start the car for a few seconds...then look to see if more gas came out...if none did then ur not getting gas!!

if those are good then look to see if getting spark..

 

ok i'm gonna go do a few checks and i'll reply and tell you guys what happened. Sorry i couldn't be more specific, it was such a surprise i didn't know where to start.
