advice on changing auto to manual
so i been sitting around thinking about my car and im thinking i might want to change my automatic to a manual. i have a 92 si with an h23 so the questions are
does it matter if i use a manual transmission from a h22 engine (only asking cause when i looked ebay they give me years and not engines type)?
how hard would it be to install it, can i get away with just using an engine lift and pulling it out that way or is it better with a car lift, and odds are im doing it by myself and im new to all this so think newb on this.
if i do get it what should i upgrade on the transmission before installing it. i figured the flywheel but is there anything else.
thanks for all the help

^what he said. OR, buy a completely wrecked prelude as a parts/spare car. extra motor parts have come in handy having an extra h23 around.. you'd be surprised.
well what about an upgraded torque converter, i was reading in an old honda tuning mag and they did a write up on jmo (jmousa.com) anyone heard about this company and what do you think of it?
I agree with just buying a manual car.. haha Since you already admitted to not having alot of knowledge yet... But if you were to do it, you could just drop the tranny NP... on my Bros GSR I just un bolted it and he caught the tranny. Hahaha... Not that dramatic but essentially. There is so much tedious work that needs to be done to make the car manual... Including possibly a new raditor if you cant fill the lines that went to the auto tranny. Good luck!
h22 transmision is better for high reving, which would be fine..
if this is a budget build, just get what ever is readily available.. f series or H manual trans...
you will need the fly wheel, fly wheel bolts.
manual pedals, clutch lines, master cylinder, slave cylinder
im sure theres more little stuff..
I dont think that its hard to do.. just a pain in the but to do it by yourself.
its not hard. just take your time to do it. and research.. auto to manual swaps are all practicaly the same. with a few minor difference in the linkage, mounts.

bad idea on a 4th gen, better idea on a 5th gen but still bad. 4th gens are already a dime a dozen, so to put any money into it when it doesn't need it will be an absolute moneypit. There will be zero return on the investment, so you better make sure its what you want before you tackle the project. just my opinion on the matter.
On a 4th gen this WILL REQUIRE a manual transmission mount to be welded on instead of the automatic mount. Or you could be ghetto and weld up the automatic bolt through hole and drill where the manual hole needs to be. The drivetrain won't sit level unless this is done. Happy trails dude
