Would it be cheaper if i kept my auto 92 4ws and convert it to manual or buy a lude that was already converted to a manual?

Buying another car would be easier, but more expensive.

How available are parts versus cars in Alaska though?

Cheaper to buy a lude already manual. Don't be put off by auto's they are just easier on the motor than manual.

Over here it is hell as expencive to do a conversion from auto to manual, you are looking at $5,000 to do it. That is New Zealand Dollars. Unless you know what you are doing and prepared to do the labour yourself it could be cheaper. I would rather buy one already manual and save myself the time and stress and effort. That's my 2c.

He has a manual from the factory or he converted his from an auto? I wouldn't buy a vehicle that someone converted themselves, but thats just me.

Manuals they allow you to free rev during each gear chance. Autos well they are autos they run on a computer and choose when its the best time to change gear for you. Thats what i know anyway.

they also use an extra 5% of the engines power which means more wear and tear

I'd buy a car with manual already. I have an auto and totally regret it...plus Prelude auto tranny's are known to go bad.

I dunno about you, but I see more threads with people having problems with their manual tranny. All tranny's will go bad. The problem with the 5th gen is that there aren't many options when it does. Take it easy on them. Change the ATF religiously and they should last.

I would gather the parts and have your buddy help you do it. This way you can keep the 4WS Prelude I repeat..FOUR WHEEL STEERING PRELUDE.
