Soda blasting or sand blasting a manifold?

Default Soda blasting or sand blasting a manifold?

I have a ramhorn manifold made of stainless material and I was wondering if blasting it will have any adverse affects on the material?Are any methods better for cleaning the manifold and preventing any damage/Thanks

You're good to go. Bead blasting is pretty much harmless to that, it will only take off the loose sh*t on the surface and take away the shine.

What kind of finish do you need/want? Sandblasting will get it totally stripped, but the surface will be rough and will get dirty very fast if you're not ceramic coating it. I don't think soda would do enough to remove coloring, but would deffinatly clean it pretty well. Walnut shell and corn cob are not hard enough to do much of anything.

glass bead blasting + vht 2000* header paint.

Well I am just looking to get the surface totally clean and remove all the discoloration and start fresh.

you are not supposed to use glass bead as a blast meduim when painting or coating afterwards, use aluminum oxide.

if you are just cleaning it and dont want a paint surface use soda blasting. as mentioned the "sand blasting" will leave a rougher pitted finish.
