Default Heatwrap, should i coat before and after?

I'm looking at heatwrap from Jeg's (dont have the time to have a heat coating put on) and have read in the archives to use a high temp silicone spray or high heat paint. My plan is to use this: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs...10261 . Now it says "2000F", probably not completely accurate. Would it be wise to spray the downpipe/manifold with the hi temp paint first, then wrap, then coat the wrap with the high heat paint? I'm thinking the paint couldint flake because its wound tightly in the wrap. I live in Ohio so i want to protect from moisture as much as possible.

I'm definitely wrapping my 3" DP but maybe not the manifold. However, Please if anyone has a pic of a log manifold heatwrapped please post. Heres mine:

Yes, thouroghly clean the manifold and downpipe and spray them according to the instructions on the can. IE heat cure the paint so it stays. Then wrap them and respray. Don't worry about heat curing the paint on the wrap because it soaks into the wrap.

The manifold looks like it would be a challenge to wrap but I'd go for it.

Thats what i'm thinking too, hopefully someone has pics. I mainly want the downpipe because it heats up the intercooler pipe coming off the turbo alot. Thanks

On my Greddy kit, I wrapped the elbow and the downpipe. I would have wrapped the manifold, but it was just too tight. My main concern was the elbow being right next to the AC compressor and the downpipe is right next to the charge pipe and oil drain line.

Maybe fab up a heat shield for for the manifold?
