Hi, I have a 1997 honda civic ex...I started it a couple days ago for a quick corner store run and it shut out on me a second after it stated. I didnt even get to shift to reverse.... Now this normally happens as I run my car with minimal fuel all the time... I thought the fuel was just low so I tried starting again and nothing. Then I filled it up with about a gallon of additional gas to bring it to about quarter tank. still wont start. I thought it may be the fuel pump, checked the fuse and it was good. Check the ecu fuse under the hood and that was good, checked the fuel pump it self and seems to be humming. Check the fuel pump relay and it clicks before the check engine goes out. what the heck can this be. It turns over and cracks and everything seems good... it just sounds as if its suddenly not getting fuel. Can anyone help me with this thing please....please.... please
Make sure to check your main fuel relay, it will be on the driver side floor. there will be a brown connector going into a grey box. if you have any friends with an EG/EK/DC/Delsol then try theirs and see if it works. If it starts with a new one or starts after sitting a while get a new one.
Honda made a new style that fixes this issue. You can get them off ebay for cheap. I have had this issue on a few of my EG's

i see a grey box with brown connected on the passenger side when I drop down the glove box, but don't see anything of the sort on the driver side floor. can you be a bit more specific is it under a panel. under carpet... the the back of the car to the front. I'm the Novice's novice Thank you
happened to me ... same symptoms ... new battery had something to do with burning ignition coil (inside the distributor) ... remove spark cable no.1 (timing side) and have your buddy turn engine while you hold spark cable furthest point against metal grounded part or negative battery terminal and see if you get a spark jumping between two of em.
If not it's ignition problem not fuel problem ... then it's a ignition coil (my problem) or ignition module (also in distributor)
TEST the basics ... I had to pay for towing
