F22a1 swap into ef GOOD or BAD?
I have a wrecked 93 honda accord in the garage, and was wondering if it was a good idea to swap the motor into my hatch. Before the accord got hit I did a full engine rebuild on it so I really don't want the motor to go to waste. I have pretty much everything to do the swap minus the axles and motor mounts. I'm thinking it would be cheaper for me to do that then spend money on a b series swap. What do you guys think?
cheaper? you might need custom axles to make them fit in the civic , the shift linkage and and getting a conversion kit to make that tranny work since its hydro . And motor mounts and with some custom brackets to make the F22 bolt up. idk about this, it seem more work and money to make this work.
this is something me and my brother are looking into doing also... idk if ive ever seen the swap done in an ef b4 but def would like to see it done and do it... my boy has a 96 accord vtec and he wants to swap an h22 into it and said i can have his motor... o and by the way the hydro tranny conversion is simple... suja1motoring sells a bolt in hydro conversion for efs... http://www.jdmcoupecouncil.com/forum...tch-conversion check it out...

F2D swap and call it a day. All you needs is mounts and the adapter plate. Talk to bisimoto, the F22 is a "Great engine, alot of people dont see the potential-" -Bisi lol.

I did the B18 swap simply because I had one right in front of me $475 engine and tranny. I originally wanted to do a H22 because the H22 and the F22 can make more power. However, the more I looked into it I saw some fab work need done with my chassis and the expense for every thing I would need. I simply didn't feel like getting in that deep when I had this offer right in front of me.
It appears you have the opposite situation. It can be done I've seen but heard it's hell. If you do it let me know. If it's not that bad it may be my next project.

Don't just say "All you needs is mounts and the adapter plate" because there is a lot more to doing that swap than just buying mounts and a plate and dropping an F2D in a 4th gen.

I had one of these last year, f22 vtec in a 93 Si bubble, my opinion? Unless ur boosting it right now, dont bother. It will be an amazing torque mad motor but its performance is only marginal over, if not equal to a b18.
Now once i turbo'd it.....smh....jeeeeezus Christ. Do it, only if youre going to boost it. Mounts shouldnt be hard to find, and wenrent overly expensive however, be prepared for possible banging needed to make it fit nice, for some odd reason I had trouble getting it to drop smooth through the top and the alty was closer to the chasis then id like.

i think tha Bisi has one of the fastest sohc f22 all motor in the world, f22 are good platform, now i dont no much about getting it to fit in a 4th gen
Thanks for all the positive feedback. I talked to the guys at explicit speed performance and they got the h22 motor mounts for the ef. They said it would also work for the f22. They also got custom alternator brackets. I'm sure the guys at rywire can put my wiring together if I send them both motor harnesses. My plans are to go turbo with the motor.
Here's a list of things I need for the motor swap that I already have. (freebies, left over stuff and good friends)
*93 accord f22a1 with trans (fully rebuilt with all oem parts 2 years ago, put about 25,xxx on it before the wreck)
*The driver side axle (88-89 Acura Integra)
*93 Accord lx midshaft/halfshaft
*93 Accord cable shifter assembly with cables
*full uncut harnesses from both cars
*stock ecu should work with a jumper harness
* crx si hub and spindle assembly
I need to get motor mounts, passenger side axle, jumper harness, traction bar system (if stock cross member doesn't need to be modified too much), and aftermarket crank pulley. Think that's all I need to get. Well of course new fluids and the TURBO kit.
Only reason I really want to do the swap is because everybody has a b series swap, and a k series is too expensive for me. I want to do something DIFFERENT than everybody else. Plus I don't want a good motor to go to waste. What my dad always tell me "If it don't fit, I can make it fit." Trying to work with a $5g budget, think I can make that work.

Thanks everybody for the info, I am going for it as soon as I can gather all the tools I need to preform the swap. I like to organize my tools. Saves the headaches and time of looking for stuff that's not in the right place. Hate it when you can't find that "one" socket that you need to take something off. Also going to be ordering parts for it this in the next week or so. First build thread should I say?
