like i said turbo is next, just wanna get engine and trans ready for boost.. im cheap ok.. im working with what i got.. dude wants to sell me a turbo kit for 500.00 but dont know if its worth it...im tired of seeing DOHC's i wanna see a SOHC hold its own on the track.. you can make any motor strong. its how you plan and how you build it..

theres a reason why you mostly see dohc's. however, there are tons of singles that put down on the track and walk all over dohcs.

n/a b series are junk a boosted d
series will walk one any day you just see dohc swaps because everyone just thinks an Ls is better then a boosted D series which a stock d series can push near 200-215hp stock with turbo and a good tune

dont get me wrong my dream is to put a K series engine in my civic... but money is tight right now, so im just doing a mild build... new rod bearings, new piston rings, a rebuilt head with JDM valve springs, high flow exhaust, bigger throttel body, and a stiffer suspension.. like i said once i get more money i will be putting a turbo on it... till then im just working with what i got... i herd that LS motors are nothing special, and yeah i know all the horror stories bout SOHC's.. thats why im taking my time and not rushing anything...

Your dream is to swap in a K in ur civic..?? Damn, mine's to own a Bugatti Veyron..!! And most of the horror stories I read on here with SOHC's would have happened with DOHC's as well, it's usually an age old case of user-error that causes things to break and what not... Proper inspection can lead you a long way, just make sure you start at one point and end at another, don't jump all around when doing things to your car, especially your engine... And there's nothing special about any motor, it's what you put into it that makes it special... GSR and LS swaps were cool about 10 years ago when I was in high school, once I educated myself on how to create power however, that's when it really stopped mattering what my base was... I've seen D16's in the 9's at our local track down here in FLA so let's not make this thread into another single cam bash thread or it will be closed promptly...

Just remember, read, read, read, and when ur eyes start to bleed, continue to read...
