short shifter feels real stiff
hey everyone this is my first post!! I just installed my short shifter with Energy Suspension bushing for my SiR and its nice and all...but its a little stiff for my liking...its ok when i down shift or shift into neutral...but i need to give it a extra nudge when going into gear.....is there anything i can do to make it shift with a little less effort?? I installed washers with the stock rubber thingys that go onto each shide on the actual shifter instead of the spacers that come with the shifter becuase they look like they would be a better fit...should i change it back to the spacers? thanks everyone!!
Dude...that's what's supposed to happen.
The shifter is a lever. The longer the lever, the easier it is to move, but the farther you have to move the end to move the other end.
That's how mechanical advantage works. You give up distance for effort.
You wanted short shifting, or less distance. Physics dictates that you will have to put more effort into moving the lever.
So, if you want it easier, put your stock shifter back on.

I got a short shifter with bushings but it didnt make tat much difference in stiffness. If u want softer change back to the stock shifter and leave the aftermarket bushings.

WAIT minute, what kind of shifter is it?
If it doesn't have bearings in the bottom like Skunk2 and DC sports ones, then overtightening the bottom bracket bolt (through bolt) at the bottom of the shifter will make it really stiff.
Which one do you have?

advice- check the tightness if the lower bolt... alot of times you will need to get a longer bolt and nylon nut from the hardware store.later
