I have a 1998 Honda Civic Ex D16y5? I think. My civic just recently started looping around 1500rpms. I took the IAC valve off and cleaned it with carb cleaner and a rag. I put it back on my civic and still it revs around 1500 rpms. Any suggestions?

More information could help. Is this problem associated with any recent work done? Any CEL codes? Have you checked for a disconnected or leaking vacuum hose?

 

I checked my vaccum hoses are they were leaking. I am headin to autozone now my engine light came on. I'll let you know what my codes are. Thanks

seems like a vacuum leak some where or your FITV is messed up? does it rev high even when warmed up?

 

i have a 97 honda civic ex 1.6 l n its been reading the idle air control system whe i check the engine light . i replaced the iacv n still the same problem. it idles good but if i drive it for a while n idle it jumps to 1500 n stays there . also while i drive n change gears n like hopps alott
