Default del sol overheating need help

just bebuillt a d16z6 in my 95 del sol. I put on a new head gasket on it so i just cant see why itd be a head gasket. My car startd overheating last week but id let it sit for a few minutes and itd drive fine for the next 100 miles. Anyways its getting hot and coolant is blowing out of the resvivour overflow tank now. It blows out the top. I had a old thermostat in my other engine and put it in didnt solve anything. Radiator cap looks newer i havent tried puttin a new one of them on. If it is the head gasket why would the head gasket go bad i mean ive only put 1000 miles on it and its brand new after the build. I tightened the head down in sequence with the right torque, topped off with antifreeze so im kinda loss. Ive never let it get past 3/4 of the way hot so its never goten real hot

Did you bleed the cooling system?

Bleeding the cooling system:
(This may take 20-30 minutes)
1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.

2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.

3) Follow the directions in the diagram below (hint: the bleed bolt is located where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine):

yea i never did that so this is why my car might be over heating and also i got my radiator fan hooked up to a toggle switch so it aint gonna kick on and off unless i turn the switch on but you think that my head gasket is bad

alright i bled the cooling system to where no bubbles was coming out just a steady stream and the car seems to be doing better but is still doing the same things just taking a little bit longer for it to occur, i am using just straight water now cuz the radiator fluid is getting too expensive at 10 dollars a gallan and i done used 2 is it okay to use just water til i find out the problem than use coolant, and what should my next step be

ive got a rebuilt z6 with high compression and i had overheating problems, it wouldnt idle for 3-4 minutes without overheating, and so a buddy of mine told me to take the thermostat out completely. i did that and now it runs cold almost all the time

yup runs great. when im sitting idling for a little while itll get warm where it should be but as soon as i start driving the temp gauge just drops cold. also forgot to mention i have an aftermarket radiator + slim fan. not sure how much of a difference it would make with the stock radiator + fan u kno?

Running without a thermostat may harm the engine in the long run, so don't remove it. Instead, install a new OEM thermostat and bleed the cooling system again.

If you bled the cooling system exactly as I posted, then check whether or not the lower radiator hose gets hot. If it remains cool, then coolant is not flowing through the radiator.

At some point, you may have to consider that your head gasket installation went wrong.

make sure your fan is working and turn the key on but dont start it. take the plug off ur temp sensor on the thermostat housing and take a paper clip or wire and bridge the terminals together and see if ur fan turns on....
