Knock Sensor issue! Jdmh22a->usdmh22a4swap
Ok so I've done alot of research on knock sensor issues, because it seems like everyone who has swapped a jdmh22a into their usdm lude has this problem. I own a 1998 usdm honda prelude which i swapped an h22a into (finally) the motor came from canada. I'm using my exisiting harness and ecu from my usdm h22a4. I also wired my td60u distributer to my ckp/cyp sensors (i tried using my old usdm distributor but the sensors were not in it and the motor would not start, rather than swapping the oil pan and pulleys for the sensors i took the wiring/obd1 distributor route, seeing as how the motor was in the car already). The car runs GREAT, almost too great for there to be a big problem. But I keep throwing a knock sensor malfunction code followed by a random misfire code and misfires in all 4 cylinders. This motor has a higher compression than the usdm and I was wondering if the two used different knock sensors? I hooked up my snap-on diagnostic tool (which i am skeptical of its accuracy) and the timing advances as normal with load, and it DOES retard the timing once the CEL comes on, BUT I still have VTEC. Almost everyone with this problem has been running in limp mode, but I have vtec all the way up from 5250 and its not cutting out at around 6k rpms like in limp mode. any suggestions?

Are you using your old KS or the one that was in the motor? Mine came with one that I don't think belonged to a H22a since it was blue while every H knock sensor I've seen were black and it didn't work, I had to shell out money at the dealer for a new one. Also, how old is your other one? I used the one form my old H23a1 and after a while it went bad, once I threw a code for it I checked it and the plastic plug was letting go of the metal.
The most simple thing could be it though, you may have gotten it hooked up wrong, I did that at first.

well today I got under the car just to see if I even had it plugged in, and it was. I got my hand on it and it didnt seem to be cracked anywhere, loose, or damaged, even the wires looked good. Could the knock sensor issue be caused by the random misfire, and 1,3,4,2 codes, or is one the cause of the other? the knock sensor is black, the old one was busted during the shipping process. I just dont wanna fork out $120 for a knock sensor, since most of the time, everyone that has replaced theirs still threw a code
