Default High RPM Whine..

I've searched around and can't really find an answer.

Perhaps this is normal, but when I push my EJ hatch hard I get this medium volume HIGH pitched whine or squeal.. It's not very loud but I don't like it, happens more noticeably now that it's gotten warmer out..

I'm not sure what RPM it starts at, as my EJ6 has no RPM gauge.. But once it starts it gets louder as the RPMs increase..

If it's any reference.. 2nd gear it starts at about 70km/h

Side Note: Other than this, my little D16Y7 can take a beating like no other.. I would have assumed this thing would have a knock by now at nearly 200,000km but it runs like it just came from the factory.. Doing a GSR swap soon and I'm gonna miss him

It sounds like its coming from the engine, and its more of a high pitched frequency than a whine, I don't know what to compare it to, almost like if your ears are ringing.. Or a dog whistle.. Just REALLY high pitched like something's boiling over, lol.

Have you messed with your throttle body or anything on the intake manifold lately? It could be a slight vacuum leak.

Hmm, sometimes it actually sounds like it's coming from behind me? Strange..

I have the exact same high pitched noise, it immediately stops if I take pressure off the gas but it is so annoying. It almost sounds like it is coming from the speakers possibly. I have a 2004 Odyssey EX-L.

It might be coming from the speakers. I had this problem on my s13. Have you changed your stereo or speakers? Could be a bad ground.

If you have engine speed - radio volume control ratio abilities, the speaker thing is a possibility.

UPDATE: It is not my speakers, it is a very loud whistling noise at high RPM/load..

It is VERY audible by people I drive past.. They say it hurts their ears by whistling.

I have a similar whine in my 2005 Accord. Mine is just barely audible in the cabin. It is only present when the card is running at moderate speed or higher. It changes pitch based on the pedal pressure. Even at speed, if you let up on the pedal, it goes away. I want to get it fixed before it goes KaPluuy at 4am 500 miles from home.

I have a 98 hatch with a d16y7 and it makes the same type of noise. Only when you are on the throttle hard in any gear. I did have an exhaust leak where the mid pipe connects to the down pipe from the catalytic converter. I fixed that but the noise is still there. It might just be something in the motor itself say a bearing type of noise. Or it could possibly be a bearing noise from the transmission that is only audible at higher rpms. It only seems to happen under load too. If you just rev the engine from an idle in neutral it doesn't make this noise to my knowledge.
