damn homeboy in front of him saved his ***, i've always wondered if the track would reimburse a percentage of the damage to the bike in situations like that because thats something a rider shouldnt have to worry about while on the track

i don't think that they would reimburse for the damage, just like going to any of the race track where you sign a waiver before racing too

Summit Point has a lot of deer getting stuck in the middle field and dart out at the worst time. I have had a few close calls in a car.

You've got to be kidding. What about debris on track from someone who drops a tire? Or oil from a blown motor? You accept these things as part of the activity. There are about 1 million things that could go wrong on track; you are responsible for them all.

<--- Had a deer jump OVER the car in front of him at Summit Point, and does accept it.

no....im not kidding. and from my experience thats why there are flag men at several corners to let you know whats up.....including any type of debris. i dont know what kind of tracks you guys ride at but i've never had a deer, coon, rabbit, or whatever(maybe a few million bugs)jump out in front of me, and i've been riding for over a decade.....im 25. anything dealing with the bikes is rider error, a deer is track error, thats why god invented fences OP. i accept oil, i accept rubber, i accept debris from bikes, but i dont accept something that could have been prevented with certain measures done by the hosting establishment.

<-----doesnt care about this little comment above because you're safe inside your....car

Eh, I'd do the same thing in an unprotected kart if I had one. A friend of a friend died upon impact with a deer at Summit in such a kart. I've seen professional races have similar collisions. This is risky business. I actually can't think of any East Coast track I've been to where animals were not a potential issue.

Edit: Y'know what? I'm being a dick. You're absolutely entitled to your opinion, and the level of risk you're willing to put yourself in. No reason for me to criticize that.

I was at a track day with Chin years ago at Roebling Road and a Porsche creamed a deer on the front straight.

It's called a slipper clutch. That and he's running sub 1:20 lap times at Summit Point and is an Expert, I guarantee he knows how to shift

Per the guy recording:

"I passed Tim Wilson coming down the hill the lap before and missed a shift on the straight. I was setting up to pass again when I was about to shift to 5th and the deer came out.

The deer layed down and he broke it at the midsection remaing together at the spine. I hit the deers tail section and jumped/rode over /through it. Tim is going to be OK and the video is interesting to say the least."

The deer issue has been brought up several times but each time it comes up people throw out the old, "you're racing and it's risky anyway. if you can't handle risk then don't ride."

Apparently it's manlier or something to "deal" with extra risk to an already risky sport. Sadly it takes people dying to get things like this corrected.

ok this is rider error, everyone knows if you're going to get behind someone on a straight then the air is going to go around you and allow you to pull on that someone, you're job is to go around them when this happens(generally a full bike length), not get right on their ***....moto-racing 101. this guy had this one coming
