Just won a B16A2 for next to nothing, complete with mounts, shafts, loom and ECU.

Am i right in thinking that i would need the key and reader/transponder for to use the ECU that comes with the new engine?

I dont have either of these, so what ECU will/can i use?

EJ6 is currently a standard D16Y7 (non-Vtec)

nope. these cars are not that advanced, if the key fits your ignition your good. only 2001 and up have that chip in the key with goes with the ecu and those keys are also laser cut i believe

 

So just bang the new engine along with the new ecu in and im off?

Plug all the same?

 

I forgot to mention, the engine is from an EK VTi (UK version of your SiR?).

Will this make any difference regarding my first post?

 

If it's from the UK, the ecu will have a transponder in it, they were ahead of us...surprise

If you want plug and play, just find an obdI PR3 Or P30
