Default Tach

Ok, so I just got a clean 91 Dx Hatch, stock instrument cluster has no tach so I attempted to install an after market si cluster, tach doesn't work, nor does it read fuel levels properly. So I removed it, put the stock cluster in and decided to try and use the Auto Meter Sport Comp MonsterTach.

I've never wired one up, and after furious searching on how to.install it, I began until I ran into a problem. So I have the green wire ran to the blue wire on the distributor, black wire to the ground via negative battery terminal. Issue, red wire. Where to put it? Some say fuse box,but where? Someone else said the true ignition wires around the ignition harness.

At this point I just want someone to tell me where to put this **** cuz I'm tired of searching. Can I run it to the positive side of the battery? Any help would be appreciated.

ugh.. monster tachs

what model year did the si cluster you purchased come out of? if it was 90-91 then it will be direct drop in. if it was 88-89 then you will need to switch some wires around.

there are two mfg's of oem clusters for EF's, both different from one another. You will need to match up the proper one with what your car originally has

Either stamped NS or ND

Well at this point the si cluster I tried is damaged. I guess when I dropped it, it was on a hard enough surface, didnt pay attention, was annoyed with it at the time. So Im stuck with the big gay tach...I need the tach, functionality purposes so let's get off how ricey its gonna be lol. so far i have the black wire extended all the way to the negative side of the bat, wtery, green wire to the blue wire on the dizzy, red wire to the positive end of the battery because i dont have a test light cuz i couldbt find 12 volts at thr fuse box (if u know the slot lemmie know). Lo and behold...nothing. keeping in mind that i did not hook up the white wire what have ivdone wrobg?
