Did you correctly diagnose to blame the T-Stat though? What if it didn't fix the problem after you replaced the T-Stat?
Did you make sure that the passenger side fan(radiator fan) is working like it should? It could be a bad coolant sensor, radiator cap, fan motor, fan circuit + fuse, faulty radiator, etc.

If you do decide that the stat is bad and replace it yourself, place it in a small pot of water on the stove (without the seal on it- you could melt the seal if it touches the bottom of the pot) and boil the water to make sure the stat opens correctly before you install it.
Also, position the new one exactly like the stock one is positioned in the housing with the weep hole in the right place, at the top i believe.
