Default changing thermostat

Is the t-stat easy to change. My wife 2002 honda accord ex is overheating. I really dont want to take it to a mechanic if i could do it myself.

yes it's very easy 2bolts and a couple hoses. Get the thermostat, the rubber gasket and some sealant. probably will cost less than 12 dollars for everything.

Did you correctly diagnose to blame the T-Stat though? What if it didn't fix the problem after you replaced the T-Stat?

Did you make sure that the passenger side fan(radiator fan) is working like it should? It could be a bad coolant sensor, radiator cap, fan motor, fan circuit + fuse, faulty radiator, etc.

But yes, the T-Stat is easy.

If you do decide that the stat is bad and replace it yourself, place it in a small pot of water on the stove (without the seal on it- you could melt the seal if it touches the bottom of the pot) and boil the water to make sure the stat opens correctly before you install it.
Also, position the new one exactly like the stock one is positioned in the housing with the weep hole in the right place, at the top i believe.

Thanks for all the help change out the t stat, every thing works fine. Now I just got to figure out how to keep my wife from trading paint on th I-410.
