I have been working on this turbo set up for a while.

I re painted my manifold and cured it in the oven properly. This coating better stay on this time!

My fresh painted block!

Now for some lsd damage pics! **** OBX and **** their "Lifetime Warranty"

There used to be 6 washers in the diff......
ALL worm gears have significant wear.
One washer retainer is broken

I love the lighting on this photo!

Nice looking build.

The few threads that I have read on the OBX LSD say to replace those shims/washers and to ensure that they are set in the LSD in the proper orientation. I guess they tend to put them in wrong every now and then...

Hope it didn't do any costly damage to your trans.

some of the syncro sleeves and hubs had wear on them causing a bit of binding while shifting fast. I was able to get some replacements for no cost.

Looks like you put your #1 piston in the #4 cylinder.

How well does it hold low boost with that wg placed like that and how big is your wg?

Lol, I just noticed that. I had previously written that on the piston when I figured out which way the piston need to be oriented. I installed the pistons one by one double checking their ring gap before put them in the block. Then I plasti-gauged all the rod bearings to confirm my clearance. The cylinders were also consistent in diameter from one to the next, so the piston to wall should be fine. Whats important is that the clearances are correct and the wrist pin offset is on the correct side.

When it was running, It would hold boost pressure well right around 8 psi. I do not remember any boost creep. The waste gate is a 38mm. The pipe going to it is a sch 40 pipe, so it is bigger inside than the waste gate. I have also put a radius on the sharp edges inside the manifold to reduce entrance looses into the tighter areas.

It runs! I would like to thank asbe82 for the ideal of this low cost piston rod setup and for making me a part I really needed when I was in a pinch. I would also like to thank d112crzy for helping me find a great deal on these rods and giving me advice along the way.

Anyway heres some pics. enjoy, but not too much.... you could go blind. haha

Its nice to have it back on the road.

I Finally got ectune working on my new laptop. I went out and did a little tuning and data logging. I think this setup might make a little bit of power when I upgrade a couple of parts. I am running these DSM 450cc injectors right below 80% duty cycle at under 7 psi! Its still a little rich though. Boost pressure is steady as a rock too!

Only 7psi? Lean that **** out to 11.8-11.9's. You're only taking it to 6300? You must be making damn near 300whp.

Glad to hear you finally got eCtune sorted out though.

I have the rev limiter set at 7k right now but I will probably spin it higher later. I think with a little tuning and a boost controller I can get near 300whp without too much more boost pressure. I can't wait to get a bigger intercooler and some bigger injectors. I want to know what this will do around 20psi!
