Electrical tape in cylinder wall
Okay... a tiny pice of electrical tape was sitting on my valve cover and wind blew and it fell down my cylinder wall ontop of the piston. i immediately stuck the vaccuum down and tried to suck it back out but idont think it came out. used an air compressor and used that down there to see if it would do anything. i was just wondering what would electrical tape do to it? i will take the head off and buy a new head gasket if need be but just thought i would ask first.
thanks
thanks
i see it getting burnt up and shot out of the exhaust pretty quickly. i highly doubt it would cause any problem at all. certainly wouldn't pull the head because of it.
the tape is too soft to damage any metal parts in the engine, if it get caught between the cylinder and piston it will just get squished and if it got caught in the valve it would just get chopped up. Dont worry but do try to be more careful in the future
Spray with some carb cleaner to dissolve the glue on the backside of the tape, let the cleaner flash off, then try sucking it up with the vacuum again. There's also a claw like tool you can buy at the hardware store which is on the end of a long spring. You push a button on the handle and the grasping claws come out. That tool would be small enough to get into the engine and remove the tape as well.
