yeah ive heard that before to. ive been using my skunk2 ef camber kit for about 3 months with no noise. good to see i didnt end up with you getting all pissed off like everyone does when i say a camber kit actually helps with the tire wear
im actually debating on getting a skunk2 kit also since i was using the uca mounted ingalls kit and im lowered at 2.50F & 2.25R.
I've had 4* of camber in the front for 2 years with no inner tire wear. I doubt you have more than that, so your toe mustn't have been as good as you thought.
i did have some benefits with my old camber kit being that my tires were at about 95% of even thread wear after about a year worth of driving.

I had -3.8 degrees after a year i have wear.
Even with 2-3 degrees of negative camber the car is still useing the entire patch.
Skunk2 ball joint boots suck *****, and the rear camber kits make alot of noise.
I have yet to hear any thing bad about buddy club or, you could keep oem and do the washer trick, however you can only do this on the rear.
Extended top hats will help the shock to stop bottoming it self out,
