Default problems starting/running hot

I have a 1992 Prelude with 214000 miles on it. The problem is that when its hot outside, the car is harder to start. Likewise, when I drive it on the highway and come off on the ramp and come to a stop, the engine runs hot, the gauge goes up past the midway mark, and sometimes is just one mark short of H. What do you recommend I look into or replace for these two problems?

check your cooling system.

with a high mileage car, could be a number of things. including even the actual motor itself on hot days.

check your fan switch. or timing belt and water pump cuz you do have alot of miles. time for a major tuneup. and check hoses for leaks. and check for air in your radiator system.

I have a 92 lude too with a little over 150k it is a little harder to start on the hotter days i dont have the freeway problem though. Start out with doing a flush of your coolant and getting some fresh antifreeze in there. Other then that it could be a number of things.

92 lude with over 200k very nice i am on my way only 50k to go.

yea flush your entire engine out real good, get a new thermostat, make sure your fans are turning on!! both should be on when the AC is running and just the one when its off. u have to check it when it is warmed up sitting there. if the fan isnt running, check the fuses, the relays and the radiator fan control module (right next to the ECU its a little black box). that should do it. also u should have your timing belt, balancer belt, and water pump replaced if u have not done so in the past 60k miles. if this doesnt fix it drive it into a lake that will cool it off.....

what he said i agree but just start with the flush and some new coolant before u unload too much money into it. then go into water pump and timing belt.
