Default Drum to Disc Conversion, part list

My drums are worn out. Getting sick of looking at them.

I googled this before but found some weird parts mixed and unecessary sounding parts.

So, what do I need to convert my 01 Civic EX Coupe to rear disc brakes.

-Knuckle
-Rotors
-Pads
-Calipers
-Hand brake line

Is there anything else needed? Will the stock brake lines secure? Can I leave it 4 bolt setup?

What special tools do I need to remove the hub?

Thanks!

you also need rear brake lines. and abs sensors, if you have abs and want to keep it.
you will need the rear knuckle/hub/spindle/whatever off of an 02-03 ep3. same with rotors. ep3/rsx/rsxs rear calipers will work (they are all the same.) same with pads brake lines, and ebrake cables. you might have an extra bracket left over on the ebrake cables, depending which car you get them off of (i forgot)

I have ABS but it doesnt work and I pulled the fuse for it. Can I do without the rear sensors without problems?

Can you or someone please provide me with a more detailed part list. For me it will mean the difference between getting new parts on RockAuto/Majestic or driving 4 hours to find a junked EP3.

I don't have the sensors, but my car doesn't have ABS. You will be fine without them. Your parts list is correct, besides the rear brake lines. No special tools needed. I do recommend you get a rear toe alignment afterwards though, because it will throw off your alignment taking the knuckles off.

So the only other thing I need are new brake lines? cool, I was going to get braided ones anyway. Now if I can find a place that I can buy separate front and rear brake lines from different models.

Parts wise, new looks to be under $500 from Rock Auto

How were the results? I've been thinking about doing that on my 02 Civc EX.

Guys, it's in the FAQ's. Read that thread before bumping dead ones.

Rear disc brake installation: Link

PS. You won't notice any brake performance increases when going from drums to discs in the rear.

Oh trust me, I've looked at pretty much every thread on this subject and they're saved to my favorites. I was just asking about his personal opinion on the project; about the process itself and the results.

Considering, at most, your rear brakes do 30% of your overall braking, the change really won't alter the car's braking performance much at all. The change is more of an aesthetic one, and if you prefer to not deal with drums when it comes to changing pads (although drum shoes last a lot longer than standard pads).
