Default short or ground problem?????

seeing if any one else has had this problem b4 or can lead me in the rite direction to start?? my ef hatch is either shorting or grounding out somewhere? with my car on or just key in on position and i press the brake or put on the lights or hazards my cd player turns off. with the brakes itll turn rite back on. if i turn on hazards or headlights the cd player just stays off. headlights on and press brakes can see the headlights dim and flicker. and when my radiator fan turns on it makes the temp guage go up and once turns off goes back to normal temp. any1 else had anything close to this problem b4 or know where i could start??? i was told check the flasher if car has but idk if these years have a flasher?? any help would b great thanx

I do know one thing, the flasher box is about an 3/4 inch square on top, on the fuse box under the dash.

Have you done any work under the dash or behind the cluster? Sometimes people remove a ground wire and forget to put it back. Other circuits in the car will feed back through the dash harness trying to find a ground, producing strange results like what you describe.

I would cut the radio ground (black) and connect the radio side directly to a good spot on the chassis with a ring terminal. The stock ground was really poor anyway. In fact, the entire grounding setup on the 4th gen is quite poor. That's probably why there are little capacitors everywhere that aren't found on later models.

This may not completely solve your problem, but it's a good start. You'll have to look at all the dash wiring and see if you notice anything out of the ordinary.
