Default 00 Prelude with H22A swap won't rev past 5000 RPM

The car SOMETIMES won't rev past 5k RPM. It also starts to run kinda weak before the issue starts happening...and then runs really weak while the issue is present. It seems to bog/not make the normal amount of power. But again...the car runs PERFECTLY normal most of the time.

-There is NO cel on.
-2000 prelude base version.
-It is a H22A swap (JDM). 5 Speed manual.
-Has the USDM external coil distributor.
-Runs fine most of the time.

I have tried searching for this. The threads either lead nowhere or the issue itself is different from mine.

I have tried replacing the distributor with a known good one. No change. The car runs fine when it wants to.

I've heard things about a bad CKP or CYP sensor. Does anyone have the testing procedure for these sensors? I don't have a manual for the car. I know I should buy one...but if someone could get me the resistance value or testing procedure in the mean time, it'd be great.

I actually sold the car to a friend before all this started happening. So needless to say, I feel very bad and want this issue resolved.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Alright so I think the issue is resolved. I drove it around all day and discovered that it would rev past 5k if I wasn't going full throttle.

Long story short, it was the cat. It had broken apart inside and was clogging intermittently. I ran the car open header (so much fun) and it ran beautifully. So I hollowed out the cat. Easy fix. I told my friend to just buy a new cat when he gets a chance. Now what do I do with all these shiny platinum flakes all over my garage floor.....

Glad to hear you got taken care. I was gonna say that my buddy's H2B setup has a similar problem and it was a bad TPS, and I couldn't remember if he's got a code or not.
