I've been doing my research. I'm pretty set on gettin an HKS axle-back for my 01 civic lx. However I've been hearing about knock offs of this exhaust. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on noticing which exhausts are legitimate HKS ones or fakes.

i never heard anything about this.. but if you're really worried.. buy new from a parts store?
use venders on here or 7thgen

there are knockoffs of any reputable parts manufacturers. buy from a reputable established buisness, instead of playing car parts roulette. i dont like that game, haha. especially if your dishin out good cash for brands like GReddy, hks, BYS, mugen. good luck man. do your research

 

i guess another word of advice is if the deal sounds too good to be true.. it probably is.. hks axle back goes for 300shipped with some vendors.. take that as a baseline price when you shop.. if you see some for under 200 new from some random place/even ebay.. be careful..

i got mine for 150 shipped used from a reputable member here.

 

Yea I'm looking at doing a similar thing. Ccbl does ur exhaust have hks logo stamped on the exhaust anywhere. I didn't know if they all had them. I've seen some that do and others that don't.

 

HKS hi power has the logo etched into the tip. also, the pipe before the muffler is coated steel, not stainless.
