So are you saying that you dropped a gear and bounced your engine into the 9000 rpm range? If you did that and your lucky, you may have only jumped a tooth or two on your timing belt. The other not so lucky scenario would be that you bent a few valves.

Checking the timing would be the easy thing to do first. If the timing checks out I would suggest doing a leak down test on all 4 cylinders.

Yup, the car can't be fine just a min ago and after shifting wrong it starts to drive weird. I assume its a bent valve if starts to drive shitty after shifting wrong.

If your having issues when you are in gear and driving it's not the IAC valve.

Fingers crossed that you jumped a tooth on the timing

To check timing belt:
pull cover off side of cylinder head. Get cylinder no.1 to TDC. There should be 2 dots (DOHC four cyls are this way, not sure what you're running) and they should face each other.

To check compression:
Disable spark and fuel
pull fuel pump relay, let engine idle until it stalls out
pull coil wire, or ECM, or something that you're sure will disable spark- just pulling the wires you could get a jolt!

Pull the plugs (keep track where they came from and 'read' them while you're at it)
Have someone (or a clean screwdriver) hold throttle open.

Hook up compression tester (the hose threads in where the spark plug goes). Crank it over for 10 seconds, and record maximum pressure reading. Write this down.

Move onto the next cylinder, repeat the compression test, and when you're done they should not be more than 10% off from each other, and none should be really low (0). If they are, you have some problems.
