Cel #45 Fuel system too rich or lean.
Hello,
I have a honda civic 1.4l de 1999 EJ9.
Since yesterday, the light engine is always on. So I decided to check the cel code. His number is 45 -> fuel system is too rich or lean... Can I fix something on my one ?
Can I use my car ?
Regards

it just means you have too little or too much gas going into the engine. most likely the problem is the o2 sensor went bad or the fuel injectors getting clogged. your car should run fine unless your injectors are really messed up or something. check your spark plugs, if they are whitish, youre too lean (not enough fuel), if theyre crusty and black, youre too rich. once you figure that out, it will be easier to diagnose the problem.

As I am doing only small travels (less than 5km), the fuel injectors are certainly clogged. Is it possible to clean it without dismount it ?
Do the light switch off once the problem is solved ? Or I need to do a reset
you can try using fuel injector cleaner (availeable at any auto parts store) but most likely they are too clogged for that to work. you can try doing a seafoam cleanse but i wouldnt do that unless you REALLY know what you are doing.. i guess you could try soaking the injectors in something or replacing just the lines, but i dunno.
if it were me, I would just replace the whole kit and caboodle, just so i dont have to worry about any further problems with the fuel injection system.
and im pretty sure you do have to reset the ecu, but i dunno my car is ODB1, yours is most likely OBD2.

I am not English speaker. What is a caboodle ? I can not find it in Google :D
This whole kit is expensive ?
Tomorrow I will check the spark plug and also reset the ecu to see if I have still the problem... Yes I will go to the garage....
Thank for your help

"the whole kit and caboodle" is just an expression that is used to refer to the "entire thing." in this case, it would be referring to your fuel injection system.
