B18B1 Rebuild Help
Hi,
My name is Kaven.
My B18B1 engine got 240 000km on it.
Never been rebuilt, it's burning some oil now. (about 1 liter per week)
I'm using this car as a daily driver. According to my friends and family, i'm a car beater. They don't understand how can the car hold all this stress when their GMC is falling apart from a normal use.
I'm doing all repairs and maintenance on the car by myself. Now planning on rebuilding the engine. I'm not looking for more HP really. I'm looking for reliability.
I would like to continue beating the car everyday without the engine breaking. (I may decide to add Nos later on, but something that stock internals can hold.)
I need some advices for this project.
I plan on removing the cylinder head, honing the cylinders, changing piston rings, valve seals, cleaning up valve seats, checking tolerances where needed, then reassemble, changing timing belt and water pump in the course.
I want to be sure i'm not missing anything important.
I am going to use the following parts:
Do I need some head rework?
Do I need to change Head bolts, Crankshaft bearings?
My father is telling me we can do all of this work in-site (without removing the engine).
Some guys on local tuning shops told me we can even remove the cylinder head without unbolting Intake manifold and Exhaust manifold...
I would appreciate some advices, just remember this is for stock daily driver reliability. The main goal is to preserve the reliability of this wonderful engine.
Thanks

If it's just burning oil, i've seen people just pull the head off and hone it.
If you have the money and time pull it out get it honed and new bearings all around.
