Gsr swap mounts makin me angry!!!!!!!
alright guys, just bought a gsr swap, i just received my mounts, there avid mounts, and i just read the very bottom of the instructions, and it says that i mush us a 2000 civic si rear transmission l bracket, and i must also us a civic si timing belt cover mount... Wtf Avid, why the helll would you not design your b series mounts to bolt to the b18!!!!??? is there any way that i could use the timing mount from my d16y7 the holes look as if they would line up, and also will the L bracket on the b18c1 work, because from what i have read i thought they were the same. Also if it comes down to it, were could i get these parts ive been searching for hours and can only find a timing cover mount on ebay and i might as well sell a leg for one, because they want to rob me with the price that they have...... this is getting lame and depressing please help!
try your friendly honda parts department or majastic honda - mounts you got are just a stiff version of the rubber mounts you will need the other parts ( they make them to fit b-series motors not spicific chassis ) good luck
well iwish i coud disregard the inss, but the bracket on my b18 has two studs, yet they dont line up with the new mount, although i beleive that the d16y7 engine bracket will fit the mount, could i take the bracket of the d series and but it on the b, because there is no way my new mount will fit the b series bracket, also are the l brackets that attach to the transmission firewall side the same on all b series transmissions

You purchased MOUNTS, not mount brackets which might seem like they should be sold together, but they are not.
This is what has been common knowledge in the swap community for about 10 years now - when doing a B swap into a 96-00 Civic you must use the 99-00 Civic Si rear t-bracket and timing side bracket.
I was going to also echo that IMO you don't even need an aftermarket mount kit. I'd be running OEM mounts with poly inserts in the front two and rear mounts.

This is why you always do research before you get into a swap. If your already pissed off at this problem which is common knowledge for any 96-00 civics, then you have a ton of other stuff ahead that's going to make your head explode. I wouldn't buy another part if I were you until you do some research first.
But given, 99-00 civic si rear T bracket and Post driver side mounts is required for B series swaps into 96-00 Civics.
And like B18c5-H2 stated, you didn't have to buy aftermarket motor mounts. You could have used your original motor mounts from the civics if you just buy those 99-00 Civic si parts.

hmmph well thanks guys, i guess im gunna go spend some cash and get the right ****, my stock mounts are horrible, and i got the avids for cheap, main reason i bought them. thanks
i also love how this common knowledge is not in the faqs, must not be to common, but i think i got the rest under control, time to buy parts
Any swap in a 96-00 Civic requires 99-00 Civic si Rear T bracket and Driver side Post bracket unless you have a 99-00 Civic Si motor with everything on it already.
*THIS IS COMMON KNOWLEDGE AND THE BACKBONE OF ANY 96-00 CIVIC B SWAP.
Just because it wasn't in the FAQ page doesn't mean it isn't common. If you can't figure this out by now then don't perform the swap because there are a list of bigger problems ahead.
Could you possibly post some of the other things that are not covered? This isnt the first time ive removed, and installed engines, its the first time that i have swapped a motor into a civic though.
- Year/make/model of your car
- Exact model of engine, including USDM/JDM, OBD series, etc.
- What ECU you plan on running
- Does the vehicle need to remain OBD2?
These items will definitely help us help you.
