92 Prelude Restoration - progress todate
Hi,
Not posted in a while, been busy fixing up my 1995 UK Prelude VTEC.
Long story cut very short. Was gunna repair the rear arches using my donor 92 JDM Prelude VTEC which I bought for the job (arches perfect). However, it seems the rust had got into my UK Prelude pretty bad and deep (sills rotten) and the JDM car turned out to be mint throughout. So we decided to restore the JDM car completely and scrap my UK chassis. This means swapping everything over completely.
Here is the new shell repainted in Bermuda/Laguna Blue Pearl
I'm very happy with my colour choice. Looks nice. The shell has no filler in it what-so-ever, all defects were removed using paintless dent repairs.

I'm very excited now!! Its gunna be better than my original plan. The rust proofing starts tomorrow and build up next week. I expect it will take a while.
All the pics can be seen here www.preludeonline.co.uk/restoration.html
Thanks
Tim

Small update.

Managed to rust proof the whole shell utilising a spray gun and compressor. We used the Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 (5L) for all the cavities and 1 Dynax UB tin for the wheel arches, sills and front and rear panels. We decanted the UB into a schultz type attachment for the spray gun and off we went.
Wow, this stuff goes a long way. I did all that with about 1/2 the UB tin! I suppose you waste non applying it by brush. We wasted quite a lot of the S50 through getting the spray gun to work properly, but did it to a level where the stuff was dripping out the sills
.

What I was impressed with is the 750ml aerosol I also had. This was easy to use with the attachment, and never clogged up at all. It was easy to get the small nozel in the smallest of places and I was able to get into the roof cavities, A pillars, and the rear parcel shelf section. I think I'm gunna order some more for the doors and bootlid and bonnet.

I hope I've sorted the wheel arches once and for all. I cleaned out every morsel of dust and muck from behind the rear arch lips, scrubbed clean with degreaser and rinsed with water. Then I painted on Hydrate-80 to convert any rust that might be in the corners, finally coated in Dynax UB (2 coats)
I hope I did it correctly...

^That front and rear is actually an OEM option in Europe. Amazing job, can't wait til I get mine all repainted, wont be long.
Wish I had the tools, skills and facilities to do something like this to my car. People keep telling me Im retarded for wanting to restore my Honda like this as its going to cost a lot. I say screw them. I have 0 car payments so taking a small loan compared to financing a new car makes a lot more sense to me.
Thanks for the inspiration! Now I just need to find a job

It's a colour change to B545P - Bermuda/Laguna Blue Pearl - Honda S2K 2006+ colour.
Here is a photo gallery I've done with some more pics of the finished car.
They are of a car show held each year in the UK called Japanese Auto Extravaganza which I attended. Its held over a long weekend Fri-Sun.
