No you will not have to stroke your motor. The b18c5 head and the b16b head are almost identical. Depending on what year the cam specs may be different, either will rip ***. THe b18c5 head is a hand ported and polished b16 head with more agressive cams, and a stronger valvetrain with lighter valves. The b16b head has the same description.

***NEWSFLASH***

The B16A, B18C5, and B16B all use the SAME EXACT head casting - PR3.

Just get a nice port and polish on the B16A head and you'll have a BETTER head than the stock B16B or B18C5.

**** man if you want to WASTE money by purchasing an expensive Type R head and then port and polish it then be my guest.

If you want bragging rights then go right ahead, but guess what?

It's STILL the same damn head as the B16A!!!

What part of this don't you get?

Port and polish a B16A head and it will be the SAME as the Type R head if the same work is done - hell why not just tell others your PR3 B16A head is a Type R head if you want bragging rights.

Sorry to be an ***, but it seems like you just don't don't get it.

I mean the actual head casting - a bare head, you know, the thing that gets the P&P work?

Hell throw some better-than-ITR cams in a STOCK B16A head and outpower the would-be ITR head on the B16A.

he is talking about the cast. the internals are different. and he is right, its kinda stupid if ur looking at a type R head to not just port/polish your b16 head and put some nice valves, cams, and springs in there

it's ok, at least I learned it the hard way. that's the reason why we have this tech board, so that others may learn and for those who are knowledgable to impart their knowledge. oh well.

I would rather have a stock B16A head with PortFlow stiffer inner valvesprings, ITR intake outers all around, titanium retainers, and some Skunk2 Stage 1 or even 2 cams than a bone stock ITR head with all stock ITR innards.

...And this is coming from a B18C5 owner.
