my sister backed into my car, parked uphill in 1st gear, trans okay?
so yeah..... what a dumbass!
there was already a problem with a bearing inside the trans, not the pilot or throwout i was told. when she hit the car it moved back a considerable amount. i drove the car around the block and whatnot, the only thing i noticed was that it was VERY difficult to get it into first gear sometimes. but not from an absolute standstill, just if i was like cali-stopping at a stopsign...

well if u were in 1st gear she may have SLIGHTLY bent ur linkage if u drove and drives fine dont worry about it
i fail to see how it would have damaged your trans. you car was parked in gear, so the transmission was connected to the engine via your clutch. if the wheels moved slightly when she hit your car (your car was pushed back) it would just make the engine spin a little. how could your shift linkage bend?
i say it's all in your head.

Against the gear?
Look, it's no different than taking off in first and then letting off the gas while in gear. No fuel is being injected, but the momentum of the car is spinning your wheels, which is spinning your transmission, which is spinning your engine. Same scenario.
The worst thing that happened was potential body damage, and a little wear on your brake shoes, assuming the hand brake was engaged.

haha thanks man!
i get what you guys are saying about it just spinning the wheels, but in the given scenerio it is spinning in the direction that it should. she backed into the front of my car, so wouldnt that be like going backwards down a steep hill in first? if thats possible lol...
i was driving tonight, and noticed a grinding sound when shifting

I see what you're getting at. But the thing is, when taking off uphill it's easy to stall because the motor is spinning one way, and the wheels are trying to spin it the other way when you roll backward. In your case, the motor wasn't running, therefore it just spun the motor backwards.
I'm not doubting you're hearing a noise or having an issue. I'm just saying it would be unrelated. You could be noticing something that's already been going on but haven't noticed it until now, since because of the incident you're looking for something to be wrong. And you did mention a bad bearing inside your transmission. I had a bad input shaft bearing and it made some pretty gnarly music.
Just keep us posted, and enjoy the cake.

NEVER put your car into first gear unless you are at a COMPLETE dead stop....problem fixed cali rolls are always done in 2nd even with d series bro
x2.. this is why people mess up their trannies. On a Subaru Sti you can actually put it in first gear while doing a California stop, but with a Honda its always going to grind! Unless it was hard putting into first gear while your at a dead stop, then its the transmission.
Hey at least see if you can get it looked at and possibly repaired. She smashed the car, so milk it for what its worth!
You can read about this straight from the honda owners manual.
If you have a car that wont go in to 1st while moving just throttle bump it a bit and put a slight pressure on the stick and at the right rpm the trans will go into gear.
You can shift up and down with throttle rpm matching and use no clutch at all.... If your good.
(no real point, but you can.)
