Default ECU problems

Ok I swapped the engine in my 02 accord from ULEV f23A4 to F23a1. when I finally got it all hooked up it wouldnt start so I took to my cousin who works at a garage and they got it started and the problem was just some stupid stuff that i hooked up wrong and the throttle position sensor was bad. So the replaced the sensor and It will now start but as soon as you give it any throttle it will just shut off. Any suggestions?

Did you plug the MAP sensor into the TPS and vice versa? They are the same connector.

If they got everything hooked up right at the garage. Then one would assume that your car should be running.

Are you using the ULEV ECU or an F23A1 ECU? Is the check engine light on? If it is what are the codes?

Yea i thought it should be running too but its not. I'm using the ULEV ecu. and im not sure if the CEL is on i know it was and i had all kinds of codes cant remember what off the top of my head but once they got everything hooked up right theres no CEL and they ran the diagnostic on it and the only thing its saying is the TPS is only reading 5% throttle even with it wide open and they cant figure out why.

Sounds like some wires are still crossed. If they replaced the TPS with a new one and it's still not working. I guess it's time to trouble shoot the TPS wiring. The garage should have the tools required to trouble shoot wiring problems. Question is, do they have the wire schematics or a shop manual for your Accord? A Honda shop manual has the process required to troubleshoot the TPS.

As mentioned before. Did they try swapping the MAP sensor connector with the TPS connector?

The complete wiring diagram can be found here

here's what you need to check your TPS wiring

The engine harness is pinned out differently between F23A1 (LEV) and F23A4 (ULEV). I know the O2 sensors are incorrect, and I think a couple other things as well possibly including the ECT sensor(s). I'll post up the differences when I get home. Do you know what year the engine is?

EDIT: Nevermind. If you're using the same harness and ECU then it's not a pin-out issue.

MAP at idle is around .9 volts. MAP at WOT with no load is probably .7 volts. That probably is the same as 5% throttle.

TP at idle is .5 volts. I bet the connectors are swapped.

Swapping the MAP and TPS connectors won't set a Check Engine Light because both sensors work off a 5 volts reference and the values aren't far enough out of whack. The DTC monitors don't see a problem.
