Default ITR VTEC engagement = 5K rpms stock?!??

Sorry, this is a repost of my thread from the tech section but I'm trying to get all help I can:

Looking at a potential EH3 civic which has a JDM ITR B18C swapped in. Engine, ecu, tranny, etc. is stock ITR according to the seller and he claims to be using the stock JDM P73 ecu.

However, the vtec engagement point on this car is 5K rpms, not the 5.8K or so rpms that I was expecting on a stock ITR setup. Anyone agree with me that this is weird or know cause of this? Anything to do with the car being OBD1 and the engine, ecu, etc being OBD2?

I'd be grateful for any help anyone has...I'm trying to be as thorough as I can in addressing any potential issues before buying the car so advice is really appreciated.

is it possible that the seller is in fact using a gsr ecu, and the tach is off a little?

Tach would have to be pretty far off considering the 5400 crossover

On a stock gsr ecu the vtec crossover is at exactly 5k rpms but not a type r.

Uhh no. It's at 4400rpm on a B18C GS-R.

cncl, it's 5000 rpm on my Spoon P73 ECU. Looks like a regular ECU but just with Spoon stickers on it.
Maybe you got a spoon ECU without stickers.
Dunno, jus sayin'.

If so, you should have a higher redline and no speed cut.

First, assume they paid for the work to be done and they have no clue. Second, it probably is running a chipped OBD I ECU since the chassis is OBD I. Third, potentially the tach is off.
