Default Apexi WSII minus Cat

I'm about to order the WSII for my EK hatch, I realize the system will be sent to fit against my stock headers (with their built in cat).

When I swap my motor the new headers will bolt directly to the Apexi's mid pipe and will leave out any space for a cat and it's sensor.

But my question is.. Knowing the WSII is a relatively quiet system will it the sound get ricey without the cat in place?

I had a similar issue with a Tanabe Super Racing Medallion but after loosing the cat the sound was even better.

barely flow better.

it'll sound more like a can of bees. it's not a great idea.
but with an apexi it should be ok for awhile.

the resonator is what makes the bees, not the cat. if you remove the resonator it will sound like bees

I just deleted my cat when installing my DTR header (reluctantly) and was worried about the same thing. It sounds fine...deeper and only a little louder at WOT. Not ricey at all.
And yeah, I kept the WS2 resonator.

well most of the time, people get WS2 for the lack of sound and considering a cat converter has some sound dampening, it doesn't make sense not to have one. Plus its illegal in most states. I had a straight pipe on my Tanabe Super Medallion with a magnaflow resonator and it sounded like a **** can of turd bees compared to when I actually had a cat in it. It still sounds like it which is why i'm going back to stock exahust. In the end though, your call. My vote goes to having one

My Tanabe Super Racing Medallion had a great sound with the stock D series engine w/cat

and even better sound with B16 no cat.

Although I will admit that there was a loss of back pressure as the Racing Medallion pretty much a straight through design including the canister, and that has a price...less torque than the already low numbers B16's come with.

don't let anyone see you bring up back pressure.
it may sound ok for awhile(specially with a canister) but sooner rather then later you'll blow out all the packing and beehive city.

it also depends on what your definition of a 'nice' sound is for your car. My ideal exhaust is as quiet as stock yet performs as a straight through exhaust. Its impossible, but the WS2 is the best you're gonna get. Or RSR Exmag lol
