My timing belt doesn't look so hot...
I wonder what's wrong? It's got maybe 30,000km on it. H22 motor, H23 tensioner, installed by me (apparently badly?).
The real question is if this belt is about to fail or not, though.

Plenty of pressure for one finger

I would personally change it asap. It looks like from one of the pictures like there isn't enough tension, it looks like it is kinda sloping up when it should be straight and snug.
The real question is do you want to risk the belt snapping or jumping time on the car and causing damage or leaving you stuck somewhere?(cant see pics, stuck on dial-up)
For what it's worth it has the stock full covers on. I will look down there for issues. What appear to be timing belt shavings in pictures #3 and #4 are what really weird me out. It's either carrying up the shavings (possible, if weird), or rubbing on the VC (also weird).
As an aside, it seems that I can never have a valve adjustment go smoothly (even though the clearances themselves were great after two years)

The REAL question is in this day and age of 19.99 DSL who the hell still has dial-up??? Any who OP I would def change the belt and look for some rub marks inside the t-cover.

Do you drive around without timing covers on? If you have covers, then I'd guess that wear happened pretty early on and with 30k it's not going to fail anytime real soon. If you take it apart you should be able to see what it's rubbing on and fix it. My guess would be that it's rubbing on the edge next to the gear on the crankshaft.

Yeah, it seemed like it is rubbing. Look at the belt where it rides on the cam gears to see if its all cracked. If it is, you'll need it replace ASAP!
About that slack that you showed in the above pic, mine's like that too even though I did followed the procedure on how to go about adjusting the t-belt. So I guess thats normal with h23 manual tensioner conv setups @ TDC.

Because the H22 Auto Tensioners are known to fail which then results in a engine failure. Besides, the Auto Tensioners makes it harder for you to install the t-belt; sucks a$$. You'll know what we mean when you do yours.
Yeah. Even better would have been to remove a bolt that I didn't need! But I liked how it plugged the hole in the valve cover.
Hopefully the timing belt holds up, I have a lot of events in June. My mechanic thinks its ok - but it would mess with my long term game plan if something happened to the head (ie, throw Euro-R head on a succession of $900 H22A blocks as needed until the Prelude rusts to nothing).
