Default timing belt?

is a stupid question but is that my friend doesnt believe me
i will copy paste the answer here to him
but the question is
is the timing belt suppost to be tight or loose or not too tight ,not too loose?

it doesnt have to be completely tight but the slack shouldnt be too much when you move the belt back and forth...

if there is too much slack, you can jump a tooth and a variety of things could happen...
